Highly Recommended Local Resources
Business Cards:
Dr. Guerino is a wonderful avian vet we recently discovered. Many bird people in Maine feel the drive is worth the trip when you need a good avian vet. He has a very calming demeanor and is extremely knowledgeable about birds. He also has an excellent bedside manner - all my birds who have seen him just loved him. Be sure to give a big hello to Joy, his assistant. She is someone who also has that special touch with birds and is a friend of mine. The Animal Medical Center has daytime, evening and weekend hours - making it wonderful resource for those who have birds that always have problems during those hours you can never find a vet open.
Dr. Stephen Kinney has been the veterinarian for our pets for more than 10 years. His ability, competence, outgoing & upbeat personality, and bedside manner surpass any vet we have dealt with at any time. Although he is not an avian vet, he is bird-knowledgeable enough to have saved a few of our pet birds over the years. If he doesn't have the answer, he will research it. His office is also staffed with the most wonderful, knowledgeable and helpful people. I can't speak highly enough of this wonderful veterinarian clinic and vet.
They provide a wonderful and professional resource to our Central Maine Community. Everything is done with complete compassion, no matter how many animals are brought in. Please donate to their Lost and Stray Animal Fund. It provides medical services to animals that would not otherwise be able to get help.
Come get a great hair cut from the owner, Sheri, and talk birds. She is such a delightful person and a terrific bird mom. My family has been going to her for years and she has become a wonderful friend. Ask her about Nash and Nike - the best groomed birds around. Please visit these links - they are places I have volunteered:
