Sunburst is the snuggler, and
Starfire is flapping and on the move.

Kiwi, mom, and Kyrie, dad, are first time parents.  They have been phenomenal parents  - taking great care to build an elaborate nest in their nestbox from dried corn husks.  Dad spends as much time as mom in with the babies, which is very different from the peach face pairs.

Babies are still with the parents.  I will likely pull the babies for handfeeding when they are about three weeks old.  I prefer to let the babies get the benefits of all the parents have to offer and still be young enough to accept handfeeding from me. Three weeks is typically the age I start handfeeding the lovebird babies.

Kiwi and Kyrie have been kind enough to periodically let me examine, hold and photograph the babies.  They both take a break to eat, drink and bathe during that time. I am still surprised to see my two sweeties with their own little sweeties.  And I look forward to watching beaks slowly getting redder, their bodies greener and all the other things that make them the uniquely adorable Fischer lovebirds.

Looking more like their parents each day

Sometimes they snuggle so much, they end up looking like one - as they look in this photo.

They were pulled for handfeeding on April 22, 2005 and they are starting to get the hang of it. It was bit different from handfeeding the peach face babies. They have been getting their greener and redder feathers (look on chest) - and their beaks are getting redder.  Their eye rings are now more pronounced.  They are still so sweet. Starfire is continues to be ready for action while Sunburst is a bit more sedate.  I love watching their personalities emerge just as much as their feathering.

These babies could be male or female.   I am sorry - but I am unable to sex lovebirds at this age.

* Temporary baby names have been given to these sweeties.  Please - feel free to change them once you bring them home!

If you are interested in learning more about these babies or how to reserve one, please Contact Us by using our email form.  Sorry, we do not ship!
